The weather outside is frightful but my curls are so delightful as long as I keep them moisturized with Our Shea Bar Whipped Butter by my side do do do do do do. (Let it snow tune)
The weather currently is frightful where I live and not only have my curls been experiencing more shrinkage than usual but my hair has been dull and lifeless. It’s freezing here and my hair is definitely not liking the cold weather. I’m a firm believer in listening to your body when it comes to finding a fitness plan that works best for you, I also believe that with a multitude of products out there we should also listen to our hair.
After trying out my Whipped Shea Butter Infused with Peppermint and Coconut Oil for several weeks I noticed that my hair was starting to gain back some of its luster. Being a lazy natural, I don’t like spending more than 30 mins on my hair routine and I like something that really penetrates the roots for maximum moisture to avoid having to re braid my hair. I kept my routine simple by spritzing my hair with some water and using this whipped butter as well as incorporating a simple braid out routine which you can find on my YouTube Channel.
When the weather gets cold natural hair tends to dry out a bit more, so it’s important to not only switch up your products, but to know what is in them as well. While retaining moisture is always the key certain products will draw moisture out of your hair if you’re not careful and some will draw moisture in! Humectants are ingredients in products that draw moisture in. These are ingredients like honey, avocado oil, jojoba oil, aloe and the list goes on. Humectants can actually draw moisture out of your hair in dryer colder weather since the only moisture to attract is just in the air due to dryer cold surroundings. Which is why using the right butter and oil to keep moisture in your hair is a must. Snow and Fros do not play well together so winterizing your natural hair routine can actually help to maintain and retain moisture, prevent breakage avoid those little knots and even promote healthy growth!
Tips For Keeping Your Hair Moisturized
Deep condition and Co Wash at least once a week
Find a protective style
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! (don’t get lazy)
Stick with it!
What I really enjoyed about this product was that it smelled amazing! The fact that it was whipped was so neat and it’s lightweight enough to not bog my curls down but actually has a teeny bit of weight to it, just enough to keep my curl pattern and braid out defined. It worked great with my current braid out routine and helped me get back on track with my healthy hair journey. I wanted to share this product with my other naturals out there because I know the struggle is real when it comes to keeping our hair happy. You can use the code JODIKAY to receive 10% off your next purchase! I love it and I’m sure you will too!
