FRIENDSHIP

A good friend of mine recently visited me and it inspired me to share the importance of friendship.

I’ve known Alecia for about 6 years now. We became friend almost instantly, call it friendship at first sight. It’s one of those friendships that feels like we’ve been friends forever, since day 1. The unique thing about our friendship was that we met during Basic Training for the National Guard and then again during AIT (Advance Individual Training). I haven’t actually seen her since we graduated. We kept, developed and deepened our friendship primarily through facetime and phone calls (we both hate texting). It’s amazing to think that we can literally form friendships with anyone from any part of the world. That’s the beauty of it. While a bond is often strengthened by face to face interaction, I believe you can form just as strong of a bond via different communication channels.

When I picked Alecia up from the airport I remember thinking, man it feels like we’ve been hanging out all this time. She knows all of my secrets, triumphs and failures I tell her everything. Not something I can say about too many people in my life right now. We are both Libra’s and we have this odd sisterly bond where we know what the other person is feeling without them even having to say anything. I’m an only child so it really is a great feeling to know that someone else understands me and sometimes even knows me better than I know myself! I am forever grateful to have such a sweet caring soul in my life.

I hope each and every one of you reading this right now has someone like Alecia in your life because the world just wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have someone close to call our best friend.
