Dealing with negativityFinding positivity

“You may not be able to control someones negative behavior, but you can control how long you participate in it and distance yourself from it.”

We all know that one person, the negative Nancy who would rather talk about all the things they hate than all the things they love. The person who isn’t quick to share unless it’s something about a person, place or thing that they can’t stand. More and more lately I’ve been realizing that I can’t stand that type of negativity and I don’t want to be around it. I don’t want to associate myself with it and I don’t want to be involved. It’s a hard choice to make if it’s a person who you work with, live with or someone in your family. I’ve always been a strong believer of good and bad energy/vibrations. A good friend of mine recently told me that when a positive person and a negative person encounter one another, one of two things will happen, either the positive person will be able to decrease the negativity surrounding the other person, or the negative person will decrease the positivity around the other. Think back to instances where you were in a good mood and someone in a bad mood ruined the moment, unfortunately, whether we want it to or not negativity often wins, so the best way to win against it is to create distance.

It was so eye opening to me and I started thinking more clearly about what type of people and conversations I want to associate myself with. Sure listening to someone vent here and there every once in a while is a part of who we are as human beings, but if you find yourself in a place where negative vibes are taking over then it’s time to make a decision. There are bad things in the world and bad things definitely do happen to good people, but there are also good things, and good things will happen if you let them. I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction and if you truly believe that bad things are going to happen to you forever, then they will. My life has changed so much since I decided to believe in and look for the good things in life.

*Try This

Whenever I find myself engulfed in negativity I like to take a step back. I distance myself from that person, place or thing and I try to find balance. I live right by a beach so I’ve been enjoying breathing in the fresh air and feeling the sand between my toes. I do a lot of reflecting and journaling to ensure my wants and needs stay aligned. I find it best to do this whenever I’m feeling off. I’ve become very in tune with myself this year, it’s something that took a lot of practice but I’m glad I’m able to get myself out of a rough hour, day or week a lot faster than I could before. I throw on something comfortable and enjoy the moment. This pink dress is from Rosegal, it’s extremely comfortable and perfect for the days where I just want to feel unrestricted. They have a lot of cute affordable fashion pieces on their website which you can check out here.

If you know of anyone who is going through a rough time right now, be there for them but also be aware of your own needs. Don’t let someone dim your light just to brighten theirs, don’t let someone’s negativity bring down your positive vibrations.
