SUMMER TO FALL

Classic Styles to Wear from Summer to Fall

It seems like summer has just arrived, doesn’t it? And yet, everyone is already talking about pumpkin spice-this and pumpkin spice-that! Although I can understand people getting excited about autumn, it is difficult to let go of summer so quickly. Especially because it’s still very hot, and technically, it’s still summer! So that leaves us fashion folk at a bit of a crossroads. How do we dress when in between summer and fall? Many might wish there were a rulebook written on the subject, but as we’ve learned, fashion “rules” are all but definitive. Remember the rule about no white pants after summertime? No longer applies, according to winter white!

However, if you are feeling totally lost as to how to transition your fashion from summer to fall, I do have some tips for you. The key is to wear pieces that work for both seasons. Usually, this means taking advantage of the timeless appeal of classics. Some looks transcend far past seasons, and those are what I will share with you below. Here are some no-fail pieces to take from summer into fall with style.

Jumpsuit

While a romper might not be ideal for chilly nights, a jumpsuit is the perfect pick. Covering your legs while allowing the choice for spaghetti straps, jumpsuits give you the best of both worlds, especially when the weather gets bipolar. If you’ve worn yours to death, consider InStyle’s ideas for new ways to wear your jumpsuit.

Shift Dress

Always classy and just the right amount of comfortable, shift dresses are a no-fuss option for the woman who wants to look put-together without really trying. They’re easy to slip on and have the most classic silhouette around, making shift dresses a no-brainer for summer-to-fall fashion.

Midi Skirt

A maxi feels a little too summery for fall, so hit the happy medium with a pleated midi skirt, per Essence’s suggestion. It’s timeless and can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. You can wear tights with your midi skirt when nights get chilly, but you can wear it with a light blouse during the day when the sun is beaming down.

Boyfriend jeans

If you already live in your boyfriend jeans, you’re in luck. Boyfriend jeans are a classic denim choice that immediately give your outfit a sense of coolness, no matter the season. In the summer, they’re great with a tank, and in the fall, they can be paired with a leather jacket and booties. Crisis averted!

Off-the-shoulder top

The off-the-shoulder trend has skyrocketed ever since spring, and it’s not showing signs of stopping come fall. An off-the-shoulder top looks just as great with jeans as it does with your favourite cut-off shorts, making it easy to transform when temps get lower. Lyst provides inspiration when it comes to this style, making it easy to scroll through many variations of the trend.
