“To make the right choices in life, you have to get in touch with your soul. To do this, you need to experience solitude, which most people are afraid of, because in the silence you hear the truth and know the solutions.”- Deepak Chopra #MondayMantra

It’s only when I step back and take time for myself that I find clarity. A year ago I decided to go to Goodwill and buy a few outfits for the purpose of repurposing and opening an online fashion shop. I still have yet to do this, well that’s not true, I still have yet to open the shop. I’ve been making things for myself like this tulle skirt and re purposing things like this sweater you see pictured above. I have a few items cut, sewed and refashioned just sitting under my bed, waiting for the right moment. The truth is I don’t really know what I’m afraid of, I’ve never been afraid of putting myself out there, and definitely not afraid of the entrepreneur life, I’ve been one for years now. The moment just never felt right. I never had time.

Just the other day I was feeling overwhelmed and unsatisfied. I realised that for a lot of the things I want to do, my excuse is I don’t have the time when in all reality I’m just not making the time. I’ve started on a new endeavor. I’m writing an e-book! In case you missed the original announcement from my blog post a few weeks ago, it’s something that’s been on my mind forever. I decided to make time for it and all because I took the time to be honest with myself. I found the solution. If you want something you’ll find a way, if you don’t want it you’ll make excuses.

I really enjoy solitude. As an ambivert I still have introvert qualities. Being around people and different energy all day exhausts me and I am able to recharge when I am by myself. We can learn a lot about ourselves in the silence. Next time you are feeling lost, make some time for yourself, that includes putting your phone on silent!

I bought this sweater at Goodwill, and added lace and tulle to spice it up a bit, shop a similar look to this post below!

  1. You look beautiful Jodi! I love how you repurposed your sweater and that tulle skirt, very cool! I hear ya on making time for all the things we want to get done. I often tell myself if I just get up an hour earlier than I could get more done in a day. Goals for this coming new year.
