What I love about fashion is you can take it anywhere! I almost never wear jeans, but this light wash denim from Apricot Lane GB is so perfect for the holidays, meaning I can eat a lot of turkey and dessert without feeling like my jeans are going to constrict my body.

FIT TIP:

When trying to find the perfect pair of jeans testing the stretchiness of the jeans is very important I like to do a little squat test to make sure everything sits just where it’s suppose to.

Dressing for the holidays is always a struggle for me because I like to relax with my friends and family but because I know there will be pictures I want to look somewhat fashionable as well otherwise I’m always the person opting out. #paparazzi #nopicturesplease #homelesschic.

BUILDING AN OUTFIT:

Started from the bottoms now I’m here. Alright so depending on how I’m feeling that day, my bottoms are very important, if I’m feeling like a balloon which is pretty much everyday, I’ll want to start with something stretchy but form-fitting. To get the best of both worlds leggings and stretchy jeans are a great start.

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT:

A simple necklace or statement piece can take your outfit from drab to fab and something as simple as a belt can accentuate any loose-fitting top, the best part about adding a belt is it can come off at anytime. Adding accessories to any outfit can make it look like you tried a lot harder than you actually did. #iwokeuplikethis then added some earrings.

LAYERS:

As it gets colder where I live, the key to ditching a dreary sweatshirt is layers! Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of homeless chic but some days the sweatshirts just aren’t enough for my mood and I’m a big mood dresser. I like to start with a tank top and add the base of my outfit such as a comfy cotton long-sleeved shirt, a witty t-shirt, or a dress. From there I think hmm what else can I wear to keep me warm but not too warm, because coats are for outside and generally there is a good abundance of heat located in my desired destinations. If I’m opting for a short-sleeved shirt faux fur vests is the best quick and fashionable go to. I used to wear my puffy vests only when I was going skiing for the weekend but I’ve recently discovered that they look pretty fetch layered over my day-to-day outfits as well. This creates the perfect combination of being warm in doors but not too hot and the best part is you can remove the layers or put more on!
