MADAM GLAM

Madam Glam

Hey guys! I wanted to share three easy nail ideas with you that you can try at home! These nail looks are perfect for Spring! I created these looks by using things I found around my apartment such as a bobby pin and a piece of a loofah (a sponge will work too!).

To create the first look I placed the loofah scrap over my nail and painted over it. This creates a fun textured look, you can create so many fun color combinations like black and green, neon pink and silver etc. In my video which you can watch by clicking here, or down below I first went with a subtle pink from the Madam Glam nail polish line called “Pink Reptile” and a candy looking pink called “Happy Birthday”.

For this fun polka dot look I used a base coat, this gorgeous purple is called “No Strings Attached”. Bobby pins make for perfect dot makers so I dipped my bobby pin in a different color and went at it!

Polka Dot Nails For my third Spring nail look, I decided to try this fun Ombre nail. My last nail video and blog post was in October, I did a black and gold ombre and the colors look great together. When I saw these two colors I thought that they would really add a pop of color to my life. I share a few tips in my video on how to achieve the perfect ombre nail. Although I must admit it does take some practice, but eh this is what has been working for me! This beautiful blue glitter nail polish is called “Make a Wish”. Hehe sensing a bit of a theme here.

Madam Glam is cruelty and 5-free. So what exactly is 5-Free and why is this important? Well the three common chemicals found in nail polishes are Dibutyl Phthalate,  Toluene and Formaldehyde, however there are 5 chemicals total which can be just as harmful.

Dibutyl Phthalate is a plasticizer and was actually linked to birth defects in studies involving lab animals.

Toluene has a similar scent of paint thinner. Inhaling high levels of this stuff can be harmful to your nervous system, it can also cause nausea and light headedness. It is a toxin that has been known to cause birth defects as well as developmental problems. Which is why you can imagine why getting this on your skin, breathing it in or even being close to it for extended periods of time is no bueno.

Dibutyl Phthalate is a plasticizer and was actually linked to birth defects in studies involving lab animals.

Formaldehyde is a commonly used chemical to preserve and embalm the dead. Its vapors can trigger asthma.  Formaldehyde is also a known human carcinogen, which means that it is a substances that is directly involved with causing cancer.

Formaldehyde Resin stems from Formaldehyde, however it is not as toxic. It is mostly used in the production of coatings and adhesives.

Camphor is a chemical that covers your nails which does not allow them to breath. A most common sign of camphor in nail polish is if your nails turn yellow. This is a poison that can cause seizures if used in large amounts.
